Understanding Engineering Mathematics; Bill Cox (include solutions manual)

Book Description
Students today enter engineering courses with a wide range of mathematical skills, due to the many different pre-university qualifications studied. Bill Cox's aim is for students to gain a thorough understanding of the maths they are studying, by first strengthening their background in the essentials of each topic. His approach allows a unique self-paced study style, in which students Review their strengths and weaknesses through self-administered diagnostic tests, then focus on Revision where they need it, to finally Reinforce the skills required. The book is structured around a highly successful ‘transition’ maths course at Aston University which has demonstrated a clear improvement in students' achievement in mathematics, and has been commended by QAA Subject Review and engineering accreditation reports.

Mathematica by Example 3rd edition; Abell & Braselton

This volume is geared toward the beginning Mathematica user, and focuses on the most often used features of this powerful tool. The book covers popular applications of mathematicswithin different areas including calculus, linearalgebra, ordinary differential equations, and partial differential equations.

I found this book to be easy to understand and simplifies all my calculations thus far. Thispresents the material in a logical framework with LOTS OF EXAMPLES. I remember standing in the university library for 15 min comparing the handful of books available on Mathematica and this book won out then and now still cover the
fundamentals well. I still use them in my work today.

Higher Engineering Mathematics; John Bird by 5th Edition

‘Learning by example’ is at the heart of ‘Higher Engineering Mathematics 5th Edition’.

In Higher Engineering Mathematics 5th Edition, theory is introduced in each chapter by a full outline of essential definitions, formulae, laws, procedures etc. The theory is kept to a minimum, for problem solving is extensively used to establish and exemplify the theory. It is intended that readers will gain real understanding through seeing problems solved and then through solving similar problems themselves.

Access to software packages such as Maple, Mathematica and Derive, or a graphicscalculator, will enhance understanding of some of the topics in this text. This textbook contains some 1000 worked problems, followed by over 1750 further problems (with answers), arranged within 250 Exercises. Some 460 line diagrams further enhance understanding.
